Lasik
at A Glance
LASIK is one of the most common eye surgeries performed in the United States every year. The procedure is designed to help correct refractive errors like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism by changing the shape of your corneal tissue using an excimer laser.
Most LASIK appointments take only a few minutes to complete each eye, but your vision may fluctuate for a few months after your surgery. Our team co-manages your recovery with your eye surgeon to help you achieve clearer vision.
Answering Your Questions
Because everybody’s eyes are different, we recommend speaking with our team if you have any specific questions or concerns regarding LASIK, your candidacy, and what you may expect after the procedure.
Here are some of the most common questions we’re asked about LASIK and our process.
Do You Perform Laser Eye Procedures?
No.
LASIK surgeries are performed by qualified ophthalmologists that we can refer you to if you’re a candidate for laser eye surgery.
What Can Affect My Candidacy?
Several issues can affect your candidacy for laser eye surgery, but we can determine if you have these issues when you visit us for a consultation. Some of these issues include:
- Your age
- Having dry eyes
- Having an eye disease
- Experiencing frequent eye infections
- Having large pupils
- Having thin corneas
- Having a high lens prescription
Will I Have 20/20 Vision After The Surgery?
Even if you have laser eye surgery, there is no guarantee you’ll achieve 20/20 vision. Although most people report having clearer, sharper vision after surgery, they may still need to wear contacts or glasses.
What Kind of Side Effects Are There?
Our co-management process is designed to help address side effects you may experience while recovering from surgery. We recommend taking a few days off work or school immediately after your procedure and coming in for follow-up appointments every few weeks until your eyes have healed.
Some common side effects include:
- Dry eyes
- General discomfort
- Light sensitivity
- Glare and halos
- Blurry vision
- Irritation
